Roofing Insurance Claims

We’re no strangers to severe weather here in Colorado, nor the damage it can cause to your house and roof. Summer hail storms and spring wind are the usual causes, although heavier than average snowfalls and even lightning strikes may also leave you in need of major repairs.

Storm damage should usually be covered by your insurance, but it’s important to have someone on your side throughout the process. A professional roofer can help make sure all of the damage has been comprehensively documented and you get the full coverage you deserve.

Storm Damage

Some storm damage may be easily visible like cracks, holes, and missing shingles, but it’s just as easy for damage to be hidden from sight, especially if you only look at it from the ground. Hairline cracks or tears to your ice and water shield may go unnoticed, letting water into your home which can lead to other, more serious problems like black mold, structural rot, or even foundational deterioration.

You should always inspect your entire property after a severe storm. A good rule of thumb is that if there’s any other damage like dents in your car, broken glass, or downed tree limbs, there’s probably been some damage to your roof that will need to be addressed. Whether you find any damage or not, it’s always a good idea to have your roof inspected after large hail storms and other severe weather.
